  12. Loading Instructions:

  14.  o If you have a working/configured web browser, simply load the file 
  15.    'INDEX.HTM' in the main CD directory.
  16.  o If you wish to use the supplied web browser software, simply view
  17.    the CD in Windows, and change to the 'PC' directory. Then, double-
  18.    click on the 'MSIE30.EXE' icon, to install the web browser to your
  19.    Hard Drive - please follow the on-screen installation instructions.
  20.    NOTE: This web browser requires Windows95. When installed, load the
  21.    'INDEX.HTM' file in the main CD directory into the web browser.

  23. Notes:

  25.  o If you wish to view the animations and sound files on this CD,
  26.    you are required to configure the web browser to your system. You
  27.    will need an MPEG/Quicktime viewer, and a player for the WAV/AU
  28.    files. Please read the instructions that come with your browser 
  29.    for instructions on how to configure it for various file types.

  61.  o To run this title from the CD on an AGA Amiga, double-click the AWEB_AGA
  62.    icon, this will load AWeb on a 64 colour PAL hi-res laced screen
  63.    (which may flicker on some monitors).

  65.  o If you have a CyberGFX equipped Amiga, double-click the
  66.    AWEB_CYBERGFX icon.
  67.    This will run the title the CD on your workbench screen.

  69.  o To use your own screen-modes and preferences, you must double-click
  70.    the INSTALL icon to install AWeb to your hard drive.

  74.  o To read the Aweb purchasing information, hit the HELP key

  77.  o This CD is supplied with many GIF anims, to view them you must 
  78.    use a different web browser, such as IBrowse.

  80.  o When loading animations you may find that you have to swap screens
  81.    (by pressing LAmiga+M) to view them.  Some animations are very
  82.    large and require more than 8mb's of ram.

  112. INTRODUCTION
  113. ------------

  115. AWeb is a World Wide Web browser for the Amiga computer.
  116.  
  117. It offers the following features:
  118.  
  119.  o AWeb can use a wide range of TCP-stacks: AmiTCP/IP, I-Net225,
  120.    AS-225 or compatible. Without TCP stack running, you can still
  121.    view local files.
  122.  
  123.  o AWeb uses extensive internal multitasking, which leads to total
  124.    asynchroneous and parallel network access. Images are starting to
  125.    load while the document is still loading. It is possible to follow
  126.    a link while the previous document is still loading. A separate
  127.    network status window shows all pending network and local file
  128.    accesses. All network accesses can be interrupted immediately.
  129.  
  130.  o The HTML-3.2 standard is fully supported.
  131.    For buggy pages not conforming to the standard, AWeb offers a
  132.    compatibility mode.
  133.  
  134.  o AWeb supports the use of proxies for HTTP, FTP, Gopher and Telnet.
  135.    Because some proxies can't handle forms or other special cases,
  136.    the use of proxies can be temporarily disabled from the menu.

  138.  o The HTTP and Gopher protocols are supported internally. By using
  139.    external programs, FTP, Mailto, Telnet and News can be used too.
  140.    HTTP user authorization is supported.
  141.  
  142.  o AWeb lets you load all images, delay all image loading, or load
  143.    only clickable maps and delay other images. For delayed images,
  144.    the ALT text is taken into account. Transparent GIFs are supported.
  145.    The 24-bit picture datatype (picturedtV43) is supported.

  147.  o To improve network speed, host names and network addresses are
  148.    cached so addresses are looked up only once during a session.
  149.  
  150.  o AWeb can open it's windows on the default public screen, on a named
  151.    public screen or open its own screen.
  152.  
  153.  o AWeb has a hierarchical hotlist, with options to group entries.
  154.    In extension to its own hotlist, AWeb can read other hotlists, like
  155.    those of AMosaic and early IBrowse betas.

  157.  o An advanced settings requester is integrated in the program.

  159.  o AWeb has an ARexx interface, and a unique and powerful shell
  160.    command interface.

  210. Before you start AWeb, make sure you double-click the "MakeAssign"
  211. icon first. It makes the necessary assigns that AWeb needs to find
  212. the ClassAct classes.
